Clinical oncology
During 2024-25, we had a project led by a Workforce Fellow looking to promote Clinical Oncology as a career to trainee doctors, and to encourage trainees to work in the West Midlands.
One of the outputs of this project was to develop a suite of videos for trainees who might be considering Clinical Oncology and working in the West Midlands.
We hope they encourage people, provide further information on what it’s really like, and bust any myths that might be out there. They answer a number of key questions which people might be asking:
- Why choose a career within Clinical Oncology?
- What should I do if I’m considering a career within Clinical Oncology?
- Why choose the West Midlands?
- What training is available within the West Midlands?
- What are the exams like?
For the full suite of videos please click on the picture below (on the right hand side) to take you to the full video library. Below on the left hand side, you can see a short ‘teaser’ video.
Therapeutic radiographers
All of our trusts in the West Midlands have practice educators who often give talks and raise awareness of therapeutic radiography as a career – both at schools and colleges and careers fairs.
During 2024-25, we undertook a project focusing on the digital promotion of radiotherapy careers which included developing a website, creating videos and promoting our digital content via social media.
There are lots of resources available which outline what a therapeutic radiographer does. Many of these are listed below.
