After the success of our West Midlands Radiotherapy Networks Engineering event that was held in March 2024, there was increased enthusiasm to hold a Midlands wide engineering event that would enable further engagement with the aspiration to bring engineers in the region together, provide an opportunity to be heard, and feedback on successes of our previous event.
On Friday 18th October we welcomed 19 representatives from 8 trusts across the region and covered topics applicable to retention with increased network participation.
We also had the pleasure of guest presenters from Leo Cancer Care and Talent for Care who delivered both informative and engaging presentations to all present.
The following points were covered during the course of the day –
- Facilitated Networking
- Sharing of projects across the region

- What’s on the horizon/whats next!
- Sharing of E-Shields Project
- Introduction of the new Engineer Training co-ordinator & specialist advisor

Breakout groups were arranged so all delegates could fully participate in facilitated networking. The session enabled further discussions and provoked ideas relating to CPD and the retention of engineers across the Midlands.
During the event we ran a poll so that we could capture the overall thoughts/expectations of the day. The below feedback speaks volumes and reflect what a crucial event this was not only for networking but how it lent a hand to benefit the vital shared learning/experiences that encouraged extended discussions for all engineers!
