Patient videos: find out more about radiotherapy clinical trials
Recently, we worked with colleagues in the Northern Radiotherapy Network to develop more resources for patients which help them make an informed decision when considering to take part in clinical trials.
To raise further awareness and understanding of research and clinical trials in radiotherapy we are now able to share three short videos that provide a further awareness with input from both patients and healthcare professionals.

Within the West Midlands Radiotherapy Network are keen to encourage more patients to take part in radiotherapy clinical trials and research. As a network we are aware of the importance and the impact ongoing research and trials have towards enabling the progression of treatment within radiotherapy care. Clinical trials and research enables the testing of new approaches and validating existing practices within Radiotherapy.
By taking part in a trial, patients contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge, leading to potentially new treatment for future radiotherapy patients
Patient participation in clinical trials and research helps to –
- Introduce new treatments that are not readily available to the general public
- Clinical trials often enables closer monitoring, therefore making it a personalised standard of care.
- Greater understanding of the disease and the treatment being implemented
- Reduce side effects of treatment
