The West Midlands and East Midlands Radiotherapy Networks are excited to be launching a dedicated campaign to help recruit tomorrow’s oncologists, today.  Our campaign is called “Look at life in clinical oncology“.

Our mission

We want to help Foundation Doctors imagine and understand the life of a Clinical Oncologist here in the Midlands.

As the new generation of Foundation Doctors enters the profession with ideals about their future life, we want to empower them to choose Clinical Oncology that best fits their own personal life choices – work to live, not live to work.

We have some exciting virtual and in-person networking events taking place across the midlands, where our host of Clinical Oncologists Champions will share with you why this career choice could be right for you.

You’ll spend 1-2-1 (or small group) time with a specialist in Clinical Oncology, where you can ask questions about the specialism to gain as much insight and support you need as you take on the next step of your future career.

Virtual professional networking

Date: Tuesday 29th September

Time: 6pm – 7pm

In person professional networking

Date: Friday 9th October

Time: 1pm – 2pm

Location: QE Birmingham – Lecture Theatre 4

In person professional networking

Date: Tuesday 13th October

Time: 5-6pm

Location: Royal Stoke Hospital – Cancer centre seminar room

Please help us with our Look at Life in clinical oncology project!

  • Disseminate the posters advertising our forthcoming professional networking events to your Foundation doctors through your available channels
  • Signpost your Foundation doctors to our social media platforms and our dedicated careers webpage
  • Like/share/engage with our social media content, and amplify our reach by accessing our social media toolkit and posting your own content
  • Facilitate links with Foundation Programme Co-ordinators and Training Programme Directors who may be able to support local distribution of information.
  • Consider if there would be opportunities for us to present a short clinical oncology careers talk, or case-based session within existing Foundation teaching programmes

Initiatives such as this help address that gap and support the development of the future workforce.  Your help in making this a success is much appreciated.

Please like, share, re-post and engage with our posts
